WHAT IS THE
MALINALCO COMMUNITY FOUNDATION?
La Fundación Comunitaria Malinalco (FCM) es una organización de la sociedad civil que fue creada en 2007 con el propósito de promover la participación comunitaria para preservar y proteger la riqueza natural, social, histórica y espiritual de Malinalco, Estado de México.
Desde entonces, nuestro objetivo es motivar el trabajo comunitario a través de la identificación y formación de líderes y agentes de cambio que adopten habilidades y capacidades para proponer soluciones a las necesidades de sus comunidades.
THEORY OF CHANGE
Contribute to reducing the unequal distribution of natural and economic resources in Malinalco and its surrounding areas by generating conditions that allow communities to be sustainable and self-managed.
VISION
To be a civil society institution for people and groups that seek a change in the socio-environmental environment and increased opportunities to achieve sustainable, fair and equitable development.
MISSION
To consolidate citizen participation in the preservation, improvement and regeneration of Malinalco’s social and environmental surroundings.
At FCM we develop and operate three main programs:
Young Agents of Change
Formación en habilidades socioemocionales, liderazgo y acompañamiento a proyectos e iniciativas juveniles.
Environmental Culture
Conservación de bosques, reforestación con especies nativas, prevención de incendios forestales y conciencia ecológica.
Strengthening of Community Development
Acompañamiento, capacitación y financiamiento a iniciativas socioambientales y grupos locales
We have also created community funds, so that social investors can increase the impact of their donations through an ethical and transparent link between them and the organizations that work towards the improvement of the municipality of Malinalco.

WHAT IS A
COMMUNITY FOUNDATION?
Community foundations seek to generate local development in the geographic area where we work, identifying the existing wealth in the area and directing it for the benefit of the community.
Its main functions are:
To encourage co-responsibility and citizen participation. To involve the diverse local actors in the development of the region where it operates.
To obtain local knowledge and experience, especially in-depth knowledge of the social problems of the area.
To mobilize financial, material and human resources, both local and external, towards the solution of local problems.
To provide financial, human and material support to local groups or initiatives.
To offer guidance to social investors wishing to advance the region where the Community Foundation is located
To manage and operate funds from social investors and donors to support organizations or projects working for the improvement of their community.
To participate in community leadership activities to promote, encourage and facilitate the resolution of local problems and develop solutions to them.
To be transparent and accountable for the use of resources and funds employed.
There are Community Foundations throughout the world
Community Foundations in the United States support several states and regions.
Community Foundations in the México are grouped in an alliance with Comunalia, an institution dedicated to strengthening community foundations in the country.
