The FCM was created in 2007 with the purpose of promoting community participation in the preservation and protection of the natural, social, historical and spiritual wealth of Malinalco, in the State of Mexico.
Our objective is to promote community work by identifying and training leaders and agents of change who possess the necessary skills, strength and vitality to propose solutions to the need of their communities, through the allocation of human, economic, material and technological resources..
To be a civil society institution for people and groups that seek a change in the socio-environmental environment and increased opportunities to achieve sustainable, fair and equitable development.

Community foundations seek to generate local development in the geographic area where we work, identifying the existing wealth in the area and directing it for the benefit of the community.
Its main functions are:
To encourage co-responsibility and citizen participation. To involve the diverse local actors in the development of the region where it operates.
To obtain local knowledge and experience, especially in-depth knowledge of the social problems of the area.
To mobilize financial, material and human resources, both local and external, towards the solution of local problems.
To provide financial, human and material support to local groups or initiatives.
To offer guidance to social investors wishing to advance the region where the Community Foundation is located
To manage and operate funds from social investors and donors to support organizations or projects working for the improvement of their community.
To participate in community leadership activities to promote, encourage and facilitate the resolution of local problems and develop solutions to them.
To be transparent and accountable for the use of resources and funds employed.
Community Foundations in the United States support several states and regions.
Community Foundations in the México are grouped in an alliance with Comunalia, an institution dedicated to strengthening community foundations in the country.
